The seals in your lid require cleaning and lubrication occasionally. The slightest bit of debris or film on any seal will allow a lid to lose vacuum. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to clean and by following the instructions exactly, we have never had a lid previously holding a vacuum fail to hold a vacuum again.
 | Check to make sure the seal in the lid is clean. | ||||||||||||
| Rub your finger around the rim of the canister to check for rough areas or nicks. | ||||||||||||
| To check for leak, remove dust covers and foam filters from bottom side of lid, fill canister half full with clean water, vacuum and turn upside down. (See picture 1.) | ||||||||||||
| Bubbles will appear wherever there is a leak. (See picture 1, 2nd canister from left and picture 2, left canister.) | ||||||||||||
| To clean lid internally:

| On a new lid that is leaking, or if there are still tiny bubbles coming from one of the buttons after cleaning, a few drops of oil (sewing machine type works fine) in the leaking hole will lubricate the seal and stop the leak. (See picture 3.) Push button or pump lid to make sure oil is spread over seal. | ||||||||||||
| Dry lid and replace foam filters and dust covers. |
