We only made one stop on Maui. Someone from the Lahaina Yacht Club offered us a mooring off Mala wharf. It was a rolly anchorage at times but we ended up spending quite a bit of the time off the boat and Tom flew home for most of the time we were were here. In 1969 we were able to get Shadowfax, a 40' trimaran, into the harbor in Lahaina.
Lahaina hasn't really changed much. A nice place to visit once and elbow your way through the other tourists.
Our good friends Mike and Kim came over to visit us. They rented a really nice condo at the Aston Kaanapali Shores.
We had a great time at the beaches and sightseeing. Wish we had photos of Mike putting on his mask, snorkel and fins.
It was a nice treat for us to eat out. Even if it was only pbj sandwiches at the mall.
We did the mandatory 'Road to Hana' but refused to buy the t-shirt proclaiming it.
One day we took the boat over to Lanai and anchored. No wind so it was a motorboat ride both ways on very flat seas. Lots of whales everywhere we looked and not even one photo!
The week went by too quickly and we saw Mike and Kim off at the airport. We stayed a bit longer on the mooring at Mala Wharf but decided it was too rolly and headed over to Lanai to wait for Tom. Good choice.
