We work right up until departure trying to get everything done. Oh well, we'll finish some of the projects in the tropics.

Tom and Marc making final preperations for departure. Time to inspect the mast. Up to the 1st spreader and then no more steps. Winched to the top. Great view up hear.

We take a shake down sail over to Angel Island and Marc learns how to row the dinghy.

Angel Island. Marc rows in circles.

The send off party in Berkeley and then out under the gate in early December 1988.

Friends and family wish us a bon voyage. Heading out under the Golden Gate. Under the Golden Gate. In the open ocean.

We stop in Half Moon Bay for a plane ride, fuel and to pump the heads.

Seaplane ride. Pumping the heads.

Next stop Monterey (and not a single photo) and then Morro Bay. It was a bit eerie entering Morro Bay. Shipwrecks everywhere. The pier had caught fire and burned several boats just before we arrived.

Sitting in the dinghy on the aft deck. Morro Rock Sunken boat at Morro Bay. Morro Bay dock fire damage. Ana in Morro Bay.

We make a quick stop in the Channel Islands.

Santa Barbara Island Marc and Tom The first of many fish dinners.

Our final send off in Southern California.

Tom, Ted, Louise, Darlene, Jack, Norma, Judie, Steve on dock in San Pedro.

New Year's Eve 1989 we head south into Mexican waters.
